Moose at Deception Pass Park.

This dog has “IT”.

I met Moose and his wonderful humans at Deception Pass Park on a wonderful morning in December. As soon as I saw Moose I was in bulldog love. This dude is a hunk!
Moose’s humans were the winning bidder on my Premier Session at the Wigglin’ Home Boxer Rescue Fundraising Gala.

Like all of my clients, Moose’s people were absolutely wonderful. It wa such a pleasure chatting with them during the session. I learned a LOT about Moose!

I first found Moose (@10 months old) on a Facebook group that was rehoming dogs in the PNW and I knew I had to adopt him as soon as I saw his picture. He was special - I’ve never seen a brindle colored/same pattern English bulldog as Moose. And Moose was such a cute name. I bothered Nick and begged him to agree on adopting him! Nick didn’t want him at first because we lived in an apartment and wasn’t sure if he was ready for a dog but he gave in. He’s glad I pressured him to get Moose lol.

Moose is quite the character! More from his mom.

Moose's personality/quirks:

  • He's born on Oct 3 & is 3 right now! He's like a bowling ball - 65 pounds. He looks heavy and sluggish but he actually runs really fast.

  • He is such a lover/attention hogger. Not food-driven, but will come only if you offer him pets.

  • Rarely barks! Since we've got him (June 2017) I think we've only heard him bark 15-20 times.

  • Doesn’t care about Roombas. But he’s deathly scared of straws... any type of straw. (weird... we don't know why he's afraid of straws 😐)

  • He loves to sit in boxes (Amazon boxes, any sized box from Costco when you check out). Sometimes we think he's part cat.

More about Moose,

  • He likes to watch TV.

  • He loves to get pets on his ears but gets shy when you scratch his butt.  Loves going to the vet!

  • Loves broccoli, carrots, zucchinis, and apples. Healthy boy!

  • If we crack the ice tray, he comes running even when he's in another room! He thinks ice cubes are his treats (cheap treats for us 😉 but of course we buy him other tasty treats)

  • He forces his way through things by pushing his big head on things. He often runs into the sliding door at his grandpawrents house.

  • When you say, BYE MOOSE, he'll come running because he doesn't want to miss out on the fun (major FOMO - fear of missing out)

And more about Moose!

  • Loves to sleep in my closet (dog cave)! Occasionally likes to sleep with only his head under our bed and his body out. (scares us a couple of times bc its looks like our bed is squishing his head and he's just laying there.

  • He likes to climb on big rocks & logs (dog parkour as we call it) he jumps off things like he's superman and stretches his legs and paws out like a flying squirrel.

  • He's afraid of new things that we bring to the house: new couch, new entry table bench, putting up decorations for holidays. Anything that is unfamiliar in the house, he walks backward or goes around things to avoid being around it for a couple of days/weeks.

  • For Halloween, we have this mini inflatable mummy that blows up and he's terrified of it when we bring the mummy out. He is also afraid of the same Christmas tree that we put out each year for a couple of days and then he gets over it.

  • Moose didn't like cuddling at first so we had to train him to cuddle. He would just sit awkwardly on you at first but now knows that snuggling is a good way to get ear rubs. If you don't pet him, he nibbles on your arm/hands.

I always encourage the humans to join in the photo session. I love to capture the bond.
