Frequently Asked Questions

Will I still get great photos of my dog if they are not trained?

You definitely will get great photos!  I do love well trained dogs, but I also love naughty dogs.  I have three of those at home!  I have been working with dogs since 2002 and am good with different temperments, different breeds, different ages, and different training skills.  I have photographed many dogs who just give me a puzzled look when I ask them to sit, but we still have a wonderful session!  My sessions are about capturing the dog’s personality, they are not about training dogs.  I’m like the fun aunt who shows up with treats and toys!  Absolutely no pressure!

Do I feed or exercise my dog before the pet photoshoot?

I suggest a light meal before your session.  I use pre-approved treats during the session, so if they have an appetite, that’s great! If you have an active dog, a walk before your session is great, but not required.

Do I need to bring toys, outfits or anything else to the pet photoshoot?

You are more than welcome to being any of your dog’s favorite items, but is not required.

Can I train or prepare my dog ready for the pet photoshoot?

You sure can, but it is not necessary.  Some like to bring their dog to the photo session location beforehand to get them used to the area.

Can I be in the photos?

Yes!  I always encourage the humans to be part of the session.  While the photo session will focus on your dog, I also love to show the bond between the human and the dog.  I like to capture candid moments. By the way, I hate having my picture taken, so I try to make it as painless as possible.

What do I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in.  I do suggest comfortable shoes since we are often walking some distance and on potentially uneven ground. You are welcome to bring outfit changes if you’d like.

What’s the best time of the day to do a pet photoshoot?

It depends on the time of the year.  During the fall and winter months, anytime is good.  In the spring and summer I suggest in the morning or early evening.

What happens if it rains?

You never know what the weather will be like here in PNW!  I ask people to schedule a back up date in case our first choice is rained out.  If both sessions are rained out, we just reschedule for the next soonest date that works for both of us.  Speaking of weather, I absolutely love cloudy weather for photo sessions!

What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel?

You can aways reschedule.  No prob.  Cancellations are handled on an individual basis.
